Singer Taylor Swift paid special tribute to her boyfriend, soccer player Travis Kelce, when she accepted the ‘Video of the Year’ award at the MTV Video Music Awards on the evening of September 11.
Holding the Moonman statue in her hand, Taylor Swift recalled the memories of filming the Fortnight music video and thanked her boyfriend for cheering her on and inspiring her. “I always hear cheers from the other side of the studio where we were filming the music video. And that person is my boyfriend, Travis. Everything he touches turns into happiness, joy, and magic.”
Taylor Swift received 8 nominations with the song Fortnight from the album The Tortured Poets Department and is the artist leading the nomination list this year in 12 categories. She won all 7 awards including: Video of the Year, Artist of the Year, Best Pop Artist, Best Collaboration (with Post Malone), Best Song of the Summer, Best Video Direction and Best Editing.
Taylor Swift’s big win on Wednesday tied Beyonce’s record of 30 awards. The two singers now share the title of artists with the most awards in VMAs history.
Taylor Swift attended the awards ceremony alone because her boyfriend was busy with work. According to Page Six, Travis Kelce returned to Kansas City on Tuesday to practice with the team after a few days of rest in New York with Taylor.
Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce have been dating since last summer. Since falling in love, both of their careers have taken off. At the 2024 Grammys in February, Taylor also made history when she won Album of the Year for the fourth time and won Best Pop Vocal Album (for Midnights). She also had a successful year on tour with the Eras Tour, which is expected to become the highest-grossing tour of all time. Meanwhile, Travis Kelce and his Kansas City Chiefs football team won the Super Bowl in February.
